Top-of-mind tips for installing Wattwatchers devices

CTO INSTRUCTIONS

For all Wattwatchers devices, the voltage connections are P1, P2, P3, and N, which must connect to site Neutral.

In a three phase install, P1,2,3 connect to the three site phases.

For a 6-CT device, the CT’s are by default in two groups of three.

1+ is the pink wire for a CT that is monitoring P1

The white wire for that CT connects to the common connection marked by three bars.

The CT inputs 1+, 2+,3+ are by default each associated with P1, P2 and P3 respectively.

The CT inputs 4+, 5+, 6+ are by default each associated with P1, P2 and P3 respectively.

So 6 CT’s connected, by default, have 2 CTs on each phase.

**

P1 and N must always be connected, as they power the device.

P2 and P3 are sense inputs only.

In a single phase install, to use all the meters, connect P1 to P2 and P3.

**

We can change the voltage assignments on a per-CT basis “over the air” if the electrician cannot identify the phases.

This is currently done by looking at the magnitude and sign of real and reactive energy, with some idea of what is happening at the site e.g. solar, time of day.
