Only if you are an appropriately trained and qualified electrician. We put this Q&A first because it is a very important safety requirement.
All Wattwatchers devices are professional equipment. They must be installed by a qualified electrician. Usually this will be done as part of a coordinated installation process organised via a Wattwatchers partner or enterprise customer.
Devices also must be configured to securely connect to the relevant communications network at each site (e.g. WiFi for home area networks, 3G for mobile networks).
The qualified installer is expected to ensure the correct installation including the addition of external antenna if needed to ensure reliable communication, and to align and assign the monitoring of Main or Sub-Circuits and PV.
Please note that Wattwatchers metering devices are designed to be ‘NO TOUCH’ for end-consumers.
Wattwatchers metering devices send out the data in Internet packet-data form through the customer site WiFi or the nominated 3G mobile network to the Dashboard/Data cloud server service. In the cloud the applications are run, administration of the Auditor device network is managed, and the analytics and dashboards are delivered back to administrators or users via APIs, Web Browsers, Pad’s and Applications presentation layers – depending on partner and service type selected.
In regard to measurement and transmission frequency, all Wattwatchers metering devices provide high resolution energy metrics with granularity at 5 second and 5 minute intervals, and latency around 5 to 10 seconds. To be totally accurate the streaming data is ‘near real time’, but in practical terms it is ‘functionally real time’ to observe, analyse and control most energy flows at circuit-level . The timing of data packets can be set (and changed) to meet specific client needs e.g. near real-time frequency versus minimising cost of data transmissions.
Wattwatchers products to measure, communicate and control energy flows use a range of modern security strategies balanced against threat-level assessments and client requirements. Please discuss your needs with Wattwatchers and/or our Partners.
Within Australia, Wattwatchers currently deals B2B mainly with software application partners that bundle our devices into their service offerings. We welcome opportunities to establish additional B2B relationships based on product and business model compatibility, and potential sales volumes. We are not currently distributing or licensing outside of Australia, but invite firm proposals from potential overseas partners on a case-by-case basis.
Wattwatchers has a business-to-business (B2B) model and does not currently sell direct to residential or business consumers. We can, however, enthusiastically recommend our Partners.
Wattwatchers devices are managed and communicate energy data via Wattwatchers’ high availability, scalable infrastructure.
We provide a JSON REST interface to the energy data produced by your devices that supports integration with external systems.
Our infrastructure roadmap includes a new stream-based API that will augment the REST API. This stream architecture will support real-time “push” transfer of data into external systems.
