Wattwatchers and the other teams overcome COVID-19 disruptions to reach their ‘Virtual Demo Day’ on May 8th – and everyone is invited!
It seems like it was another world and a technology lifetime ago when Wattwatchers signed up for EnergyLab’s Smart Energy and IoT Accelerator Program several months ago.
With Launceston-based Definium Technologies as a core delivery partner, and support from TasNetworks and the Tasmanian Government, the program was meant to happen on the ground in Tasmania.
Now it’s morphed into a virtual outing, like so many other things in our post COVID-19 lives, although the good news is that it’s a public event and everyone can ‘attend’ from wherever you are (click here to see the event details and to register).
While the three-month intensive program to prototype new energy technology solutions kicked off according to plan early in February – with workshops in Launceston, including establishing work plans with Definium Technologies – everything changed as the global pandemic intervened soon after.
Nonetheless the show has gone on, and this whole week is Graduation Week, with a busy program of final activities including the centrepiece ‘Virtual Demo Day’, when five teams including Wattwatchers will show off their outputs.
The other teams, drawn from Australia and internationally, are Shifted Energy, Nellinor, Electric Horsemen and Energy ROI.
The EnergyLab pitch for the program finale says: ‘After 3 months of innovating, the EnergyLab Smart Energy & IoT Accelerator is coming to an end. In this live-streamed showcase event, brought to you by EnergyLab, we’ll be treated to a pitch and Q&A from each startup who took part in the program. They will demonstrate how far they’ve come and what they’ll be working towards next.’
