A step change in sub-metering

The benefits of sub-metering in providing cost allocation and building and equipment energy efficiency metrics are well known, but the basic technologies that supply these data today are still mostly in the industrial age.

With energy efficiency becoming a measure of how well a building is managed, a step change is needed to help managers analyse and control building performance with granular, real-time information – and for Energy Service companies to supply their customers with deeper and broader services at affordable prices.

Affordability by design

Even with rapidly rising energy prices and increased reporting pressures, cost is often the barrier to implementing sub-metering.  Conventional costing of $2.0k – $4.0k (total capital cost of ownership per end point) is an impediment to comprehensive fit-outs in large enterprises and creates long payback periods for most medium and small businesses.

The Wattwatchers Auditor® range jumps this barrier with four-way better design; dramatically reducing sub-metering TCO costs by 60-80% on conventional metering without losing the grid-quality metrics needed; and with the flexibility needed for a modern IT environment.

Anywhere, anytime decision-making

Now for the same budget as a traditional sub-metering fit-out, Energy Service Companies can support building managers with much more granular information to observe and benchmark energy consumption, allocate costs and control critical situations in real-time, from anywhere at anytime.

Products and Services

Energy and Power Meters

The initial Wattwatchers Auditor® range of 3-phase WiFi meters are compact DIN-rail format, Class 1 accurate and operate over a wide voltage range. Options include 2, 3 or 4-wire power supply, switching, extensive power quality harmonics and multi- circuit monitoring.

Installation Software

AuditorConfigure® is a Windows 7-based program that gives technicians real-time control over the devices during installation in a simple interface.

It only requires entering MAC address, SSID and Passcode. Then press ‘configure’.

Advanced Energy Management

Energy Tracker® is a software solution to centrally collect, store and display your energy information from a range of monitoring hardware (including the Wattwatchers Auditor3) and gives meaning to all the numbers. It has the capability to scale from simple home use to large corporate installations and has a wide range of powerful visual attributes for real-time display and historical reporting.

One of the greatest strengths of Energy Tracker is in the SME (Small and Medium Sized Enterprises)/SOHO (Small Office Home Office) market. With rising costs of energy this software solution coupled with Auditor3 energy monitoring hardware helps you identify areas of waste and reduce your operating costs. energytracker.com.au

Basic Energy Management

MyGrid® is a basic Windows 7 energy management platform that manages Auditor® devices by group – for providing reports, maintaining installation details, showing relevant infrastructure connections and dependencies, updating firmware and managing time and logs. It is suitable for smaller or dedicated network applications where a full EMS is not justified.

In relay mode, MyGrid® acts as a bridge between the protocols that manage the devices and data, and passes these data in the formats required by the end-servers or EMS/BMS.

Current Transformers

Wattwatchers supplies two types of Current Transformers as standard.
(custom CT’s on request).

A75A : 75 amp For small commercial/residential loads.
Class 1 (3-75A). 3000:1 ratio, 3.9 ohm, 18.5kW
A400A : 400 amp For a range of commercial/industrial loads.
Class 1 (10-400A) 2000:1 ratio, 1.0 ohm, 48 kW

WiFi connectivity

ANT-3-20-700-RPSMA and NP124

The Wattwatchers Auditor® internal antenna has been optimised where adequate signal is provided. Specific obstructions such as full metal meter boxes are solved with the Wattwatchers external antenna which fits with standard 20mm conduit. Where WiFi signal strength is weak due to distance or obstruction from the Access Point, Wattwatcher-approved WiFi extenders provide low cost, effective range enhancement.
ANT 3.20.700 : Wattwatchers external antenna with 700mm cable and RP- SMA plug. Fits standard 20mm conduit
NCEX 124 : WiFi extender with twin WiFi networks to extend reach and separate the access point and client.

Product development roadmap

Our product roadmap for Commercial markets includes integrating power line communications (PLC) and other forms of communications, and pulse inputs for water and gas applications.

If we don’t have the tools you need for the Energy Information Age, we’d like to develop them with you.

Energy Management in a ‘network’

Beyond sub-metering, the Wattwatchers system enables the creation of networked ‘communities of energy saving’ that are independent of utilities.

These Energy Saving Networks, or ESNs, are established on a platform of Auditor® devices installed in one or any number of distributed facilities. Examples of where commercial or enterprise-oriented ESNs can be created include regional or national branch networks, small business networks, universities and other institutions with large and/or multiple sites, aged care facilities, church parishes, public housing, apartment complexes and more.

An ESN can add in social networking to engage staff, create a competitive environment, and broaden the business scope and scale of energy services.
